Cellars
2005 Merlot, Walla Walla Valley
This
blend of 80% Merlot, 17% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 3%
Cabernet Franc represents a selection of the finest vineyards in the Walla Walla Valley.
After the freeze of 2004 there was much speculation about how well the vineyards would recover and produce a 2005 crop. Overall, the quality ended up to be exceptional. Aged in new French oak for 16 months. is very focused and concentrated. Blueberries, dried cranberries, roasted marshmallows, tobacco and black olives are a few good descriptors for the wine. Deep ruby color, a full mouth feel with a seamless mid-palate and finish describe it well also. Pair this wine with beef, game, or tomato based dishes and good friends.
The
2003 vintage of this wine received 92
points from Wine and Spirits Magazine (see other
wine awards). |
